It is well known that women have the most active interests in fashion, however men are increasingly becoming fashion conscious as evident in any major fashion capital, be it London, Milan or Paris.

TV channels, Online site and other Billboards help men by displaying the trend of times. From general observations and research, it is clear that there are some trends which are popular amongst men.

Pleated trousers are gaining popularity amongst men. They seem to look best in full-cut and skinny trousers. Apparently there is a high demand of such trousers in the international fashion market and these make a great formal wear.

For the Casual man, The sporty look is in. Sporty shirts and shorts are in high demand. This can range from your Polo tops to your tee shirt; You will find that this look gain more popularity during the Olympics games as everyone gets into the Olympic Spirit.

Another summer item of clothing, and perhaps most functional for men will be caps Casual caps in bright shades are in demand for fashion conscious males.

Men can never go wrong with a watch, Designer and expensive watches are always going to be favourites, however not all men can afford a Rolex or Jacobs and Co watches. However, from casual and sport watches with big and bulky dials to leather strapped small and thin dials for formal occasions, the choice is limitless.

The most challenging question is probably on colours, I see Metallic colours in fashion are high in demand. Shades of pink, purple and turquoise are making a comeback in men's casual shirts and t-shirts.

For the man interested in suits: When buying a suit, think about your body type and what you’d be comfortable wearing and then ask for brands of suit coats that fall into one of these categories, keep in mind, no two brands are cut the same way. If one doesn’t work, try a different one. Never order a suit online. Always try it on first. If you only own one suit, make it a plain charcoal grey which can be used for all occasion, professional or personal.

You must also care for your suits, Don’t dry clean it every time you wear it. Wait to dry clean a suit when needed. Today, men are readily examining and altering their looks with little hesitation.

Pink colour is found in abundance on men shirts and t-shirts, which at some stage were only considered for girls. I still think we have a long way to go before men are seen wearing David Beckham style sarongs.

Apart from clothing, accessories are popular, cufflinks ties, jewellery, for the more adventurous, I see men wearing African style necklaces and bracelets.

Fashion is a universal, and men are becoming more in tune with this, the rise of online shopping and constant celebrity culture has made more men conscious about this, the truth is you don’t have to buy an Armani suit to look good, you can buy what is right for your body shape, colour coordinate, and with the right mix and match to get the best look for you.

The world of fashion is always changing, and new cultural influences will dictate and influence how everyone will dress.

Prada's latest shoes are inspired from the American tail fin era of the 1950s, when bright colors and souped up cars were all the rage.
